A Torfaen at War Digital Story

Alan Terry’s Digital Story Transcript

I’ve got two uncles that I’m named after; my Uncle Tom and my Uncle Victor. They are my middle names. Uncle Tom suffered terribly from his wounds from the First World War and when he was in rehab he made a tapestry of flags and things. Lovely colours and it was made into a memorial. It was hanging on the wall in my grandmother’s house and the last I remember it vanished. When I asked where it had gone to somebody said my uncle Vic’s wife, Emmy, chucked it on the ash cart. I hope that wasn’t true but nobody knows for sure whether that was the case. If it was the case I hope somebody rescued it from there.
