Bigging Up Blaenau Gwent

This film was made by two Breaking Barriers trainees – Ben Pope who was volunteering with Breaking Barriers Community Arts and Ryan Davies who is an apprentice with BBCA. The film was made in response to the many negative news stories about Blaenau Gwent where sequences were chosen to portray and replicate certain cliches such as grey streets, ┬árun down housing estates and demolished industrial landscapes. None of the regeneration work that has taken place over the last 10 years ever gets portrayed. In particular the BBC film featuring Mark Easton was the catalyst for making this. The film was made with support in kind from Communities First North Ebbw Fach Valley and supported two young filmmakers to make a short documentary style video.
