It’s funny how when you look back you realise that the bad times were the catalyst for where you stand today, the owner of an old fashioned sweet shop. Back in 2003 I lost my job at a place I really enjoyed and had to take a position in a place I really hated which resulted in me becoming very ill. At this point I made the life changing decision to give up employment and to be a full time dad to my gorgeous children. Even though this could be frowned upon by some the bond it has created between my children and myself is amazing. I feel privileged to have had this time with them at such a young age as you cannot turn back time when they have grown up and flied the nest. While I was happen being a stay at home dad the future always weighed heavy on my mind. This situation could not continue forever. The children would grow up and go to full time education and I would be left on the shelf with only the ironing to keep me company. I always had the desire to become my own boss but after 3 years at home my confidence had depleted. One day as I went along my daily routine of taking the children to school I was invited into the school hall by School Gates. They were amazing and the advisor helped me realise my potential and visualise my dreams. While on holiday in West Wales I visited my favourite sweetshop. It was stacked to the rafters with shelves of sweets. Sweets that reminded me of my happy times as a child. That was the moment I decided to create my very own Willy Wonka experience for the British public to reminisce and immerse themselves in happy memories gone by. My dream of having an online sweetshop has come true. Each week we are creating new products to add to our range. Secretly, we are making them because we enjoy it so much. Our Christmas range is growing constantly. But as well, we make spectacular arrangements for weddings, party bags for children and Halloween was massive. I did 60 bags for an army barracks. There are plenty of avenues and opportunities yet to be explored. Hotels are inviting us to create sweet, delicious corporate gifts, we’d never thought of that. Although we’re getting bigger and bigger we will never stop selling our fantastic mouth-watering sweets for everyone to enjoy.
